A Mother’5 Promi5e serves as a safe haven breaking cycles of violence and crime. Founded in December of 2021 by Eve Hendricks, A Mother’5 Promi5e was created in honor of Brandon Hendricks, Eve’s son, who was the victim of senseless gun violence in June of 2020.
The organization offers programming and mentorship for youth and guidance for parents and families to transform the lives of young people and provide them with pathways away from violence.
A Mother’5 Promise also works with local leaders working to reform public safety for underserved communities and impact policy around gun safety.
Eve Hendricks, Founder of A Mother’5 Promi5e
Eve Hendricks is the founder of the Oyate Group’s A Mother’5 Promi5e, an organization serving as a safe haven breaking cycles of violence and crime. Eve created A Mother’5 Promi5e in honor of her son, Brandon Hendricks, who was the victim of senseless gun violence in June of 2020. As a protective mother and fierce advocate for children, Eve was determined to find a way to provide safe spaces for underserved communities so that fewer people would fall victim to violence.
As part of her work, Eve has previously partnered with city leaders, including the Bronx Borough President-Elect Vanessa Gibson and the Detectives’ Endowment Association to improve public safety.
Jamaican-born, Eve immigrated to the United States in 1998 where she raised her family in the Bronx. She has two children, Tanya and Brandon, and one granddaughter. Beyond A Mother’5 Promi5e, she works at a residential facility for people with mental and physical disabilities.
