Oyate Group’s adult programs are designed to support lifelong learning, personal growth and community connection. From language and digital literacy to professional certifications and civic preparation, our classes are designed to help adults build skills, explore new opportunities, and achieve their goals.

Our organization is committed to making these classes accessible to all, providing the support and resources adults need to grow personally and professionally, in collaboration with our partners.

Program Overview

The Adult Services Program is designed to provide community members with essential skills and resources that promote personal growth, workforce readiness, and civic engagement. The program offers a combination of services, including Access Services, English as a Second Language (ESL) classes, computer literacy training, citizenship preparation, and real estate education. Together, these services aim to empower participants with practical knowledge that enhances career opportunities, supports integration into society, and fosters long-term financial stability.

Cost

All program services are totally free for participants.

Real Estate Classes: Free for those receiving public assistance, holding a housing voucher, or meeting income eligibility requirements.

Selection Process

Interested participants complete a short electronic application. Applications are reviewed to determine eligibility and placement into the appropriate services. Acceptance is based on program capacity and the applicant’s alignment with available services.

Participant Expectations

  • Commit to regular attendance and active participation in classes.

  • Complete assigned coursework and practice activities.

  • Respect program guidelines, instructors, and fellow participants.

  • Stay engaged and motivated in achieving their personal, educational, and professional goals.

Real Estate License Prep

  • Participants will complete the required coursework and be prepared to take the New York State Real Estate Salesperson licensing exam.
  • Adults will gain knowledge in real estate law, property management, and sales practices.
  • Participants will be positioned to begin careers in real estate, with opportunities for income growth and professional development.

OSHA Certification

  • Participants will obtain their OSHA certification, increasing their eligibility for employment in construction and other labor-intensive industries.
  • Adults will develop a strong understanding of workplace safety standards and practices.
  • Participants will be more competitive in the job market and better prepared to maintain safe work environments.

Computer Classes

  • Participants will gain basic to intermediate computer literacy, including typing, using email, navigating the internet, and Microsoft Office.
  • Adults will be equipped to apply for jobs online, complete digital forms, and communicate effectively using technology.
  • Participants will become more independent and confident in using computers for both personal and professional tasks.

English Classes

  • Participants will improve their reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills in English.
  • Adults will gain confidence in using English language in everyday situations such as work, school, healthcare, and community settings.
  • Participants will be better prepared to pursue employment, education, or citizenship opportunities.

Citizenship Exam Prep

  • Participants will become familiar with the naturalization process and the requirements for U.S. citizenship.
  • Adults will improve their knowledge of U.S. history, government, and civics in preparation for the citizenship test.
  • Participants will develop the English language skills necessary for the naturalization interview.
  • Participants will increase their chances of passing the citizenship exam and successfully completing the naturalization process.
