Meet Tomas Ramos
CanvasRebel
Tomas Ramos, founder and CEO of Oyate Group, shares his journey of creating impactful programs to uplift underserved communities. The COVID-19 pandemic was a turning point, prompting him to launch the Bronx Rising Initiative, which vaccinated over 40,000 Bronx residents and provided critical healthcare, financial support, and youth programs. Oyate Group now runs initiatives like the Brandon Hendricks Scholarship, Beyond Rising for undocumented students, and international programs in the Dominican Republic, including hurricane relief and scholarships.
Born in Washington Heights during the crack epidemic, Ramos experienced displacement and poverty, which fueled his passion for social justice. After studying abroad in 2008, he shifted his focus to advocacy, eventually founding Oyate Group to address systemic inequities and break cycles of generational poverty. Recognized with awards like President Biden’s Lifetime Achievement Award, Ramos continues expanding Oyate Group’s mission to empower communities locally and globally.
