Harlem World Magazine
The Bronx-based nonprofit organization, Oyate Group, conducted its fourth annual turkey drive, distributing 2,000 turkeys to undernourished households in The Bronx, Harlem, and Washington Heights. They partnered with 13 organizations to ensure access to Thanksgiving dinner for marginalized communities. Oyate Group has made a significant impact, distributing over 3,800 turkeys since November 2020. They procured the turkeys from Hunts Point Cooperative Market and collaborated with various local community organizations for distribution. In addition to their efforts against food insecurity, Oyate Group has been involved in vaccination campaigns, internship programs, and initiatives to support local entrepreneurs. They invite the community to join their turkey drives during the Thanksgiving season.
