Putting An End To Gun Violence: Join Us In Keeping Our Community Safe This Summer
Summer is the most dangerous time for gun violence. In the summer, levels of gun violence can skyrocket by up to 30% – a disastrous increase for a city that has seen rising rates of violence since the onset of the pandemic.
Together, we can tackle violence in our city and take on the deep-seated issues of poverty and inequity that lead to violence in the first place.
The Oyate Group and our partners have been able to remove over 200 firearms off of our streets through gun buybacks in the Bronx, Harlem and Washington Heights. The Oyate Group has provided over $70,000 in cash gift cards in exchange for turned-in weapons, which have been fully destroyed, without ever being traced or scanned. Our most recent gun buyback on Saturday, June 25 at Harlem’s Soul Saving Station was our most successful. In just five hours, 78 guns were turned in, and $24,000 was provided to Harlem community members.

Oyate Group partners with Bronx District Attorney Darcel D. Clark and her team.
We want to thank our partners who have made these buybacks possible: Manhattan District Attorney Bragg and his team, Bronx District Attorney Darcel D. Clark and her team, the NYPD and Living Redemption who have served as trusted messengers in their neighborhoods. We are proud to stand with you against gun violence.

Only through restorative practices can we turn the tide of violence in our city. If you’re interested in joining our movement to replace guns with needed financial resources, please reach out. Together, we can keep each other safe.
We rise together,
The Oyate Team
